Coventry And me the best years of my life.

In 2012 I moved 75 miles to Coventry in order to study the course that I wanted to at college.

My passion is sport and I wanted to study a course in the subject .

I learnt a lot when I was in Coventry as I was able to develop my independence skills as a disabled young person.

Whilst in Coventry I learnt independent skills such as travelling on buses and trains.

Before I moved to Coventry I was petrified of getting on a train due to a couple of bad experiences prior to the move.

After a couple of independent skills sessions with care staff at the college I was able to independently travel home every Friday on the train.

This was a massive boost my confidence and since then I have started travelling across the United Kingdom on trains.

When I was at college I loved writing essays that were 1000 words long.

This allowed me to Show my passion for the subject that I was writing about.

My favourite part of the course was studying sport psychology as it allowed me to look at my own sporting performance.

I also learnt to make my bed when I was at college and for me this was a massive achievement because being in a wheelchair makes this difficult for me.

If I hadn’t moved away to Coventry I believe that I wouldn’t have gained the skills that I have today.

I understand how difficult it can be for young people with disabilities to find a further education college that suits their needs.

As a result of studying at the college that I did I have gone on to stand up for those young people with disabilities who might not have the ability to speak out for themselves.

I must say that moving to Coventry in 2012 was probably the best decision I ever made.

It gave me so many opportunities that I may not of had if I’d stayed in Herefordshire.

I hope that you have found this blog interesting and now understand why moving to Coventry changed my life.
