Helping young people to be heard.

Since 2016 I have made it my mission to help disabled young people to be heard.

This has meant that I have challenged those who have the power to make decisions on behalf of these young people.

As I’ve been carrying out this work for a number of years these decision-makers have had no choice but to listen to what I’ve got to say.

At times they have not always wanted to listen to the opinions of these young people but they know that in many cases they actually have a point.

All I’ve wanted to do is ensure that the young people who have a disability have the opportunity to be heard something that I never had.

I have managed to get drop curbs installed into one of Herefordshire’s market towns through this work.

This ensured that a young person was able to live a normal life as possible by having this simple thing in their local community.

I am proud of the work that we have done since 2016 as I know it has made a real impact to sometimes a forgotten community..

Later this year I will be re-launching this piece of work following a break and I’m interested to hear the Views and opinions of young people with disabilities.

I am aware that there will be some young people with disabilities out there in our communities who are struggling to live an independent life as possible.

This has to change because everybody has the right to live in the same way as each other and the only way that that is going to happen is by making simple changes.

If you would like my help to get somebody heard that you know I can be contacted at: cameron_woodHFD on Twitter.

I hope that you have found this blog interesting and informative.
