Being named the Herefordshire FA Rising Star of the year for 2021

Today I was named the Herefordshire FA rising star of the year for 2021.

This was as a result of my work during the coronavirus pandemic with the Herefordshire FA youth Council.

I absolutely loved leading the youth Council through the pandemic as we were able to run a podcast series discussing issues that mattered to us as young people.

I was also able to deliver a series called HFA youth sit down with during my time as chair.

The purpose behind this series was to interview each member of staff at Herefordshire FA about their role and interests.

This was an incredible series to be involved with as we were able to learn things about the staff who support the youth Council that we didn’t already know.

My personal highlight of leading The Herefordshire FA youth council was delivering the podcast series as we opened up about our mental health struggles and what it is like living with disabilities.

I am proud that we were able to achieve all of the above from our houses as we were in the grip of coronavirus lockdowns.

I didn’t undertake any of this work for my own gain but because I wanted to ensure that young people still had the opportunity to be heard in our county and beyond when they were not able to play football.

I think that it is safe to say that we were able to achieve this through the interview and podcast series.

I would like to place on record my thanks to Herefordshire FA , The Herefordshire FA youth council & Scott Russell the football development officer at HFA Who supports the youth council for their support during the last 18 months or so.

I have written this blog as a reflection of this achievement as it is something that I wasn’t expecting because all the work that I do is to ensure that young people have the opportunity to be heard because this is something that I didn’t get to experience.
