On Saturday, the 4th of September 2021 I travelled to the West End in London to see Hairspray the musical.
I had waited 18 months to see this production due to the COVID-19 pandemic so I was excited to finally be heading to the capital.
Les Dennis and Michael Ball featured in this production as two of the main characters.
As each song played I was reminded of the film as I had forgotten what the music was for this film.
My favourite part of the production was when Les and Michael did a duet and did a bit of comedy within it
Hairspray was one of those musicals that I didn’t know what to expect but was pleased with what I witnessed.
In each of the acts there were 10 songs and as the songs played the musical got more and more enjoyable.
I was pleased that I got up early and spent six hours travelling there and back on the day because it was worth it.
I am looking forward to now going and watching the film once again to remind myself of its plot as musicals are adapted for the stage.
I would strongly recommend this musical in the West End as it is one that has been brilliantly adapted for the stage and was very enjoyable.
I am looking forward to seeing more musicals in the West End over the next couple of years as this is something that I really enjoy.
I am pleased that I was able to see Les Dennis and Michael Ball in a production as I have followed there journeys as actors.
I hope that I will be able to blog more about musicals that I attend in the near future as this is why I began blogging.
I hope that you have found this blog interesting and informative and understand why I enjoyed seeing Hairspray the musical in the West End.
