It is incredible that the Commonwealth Games is the only competition where able-bodied and disabled athletes compete under the same umbrella.
Every four years the Commonwealth Games are held in a different country of the Commonwealth and disabled and able bodied athletes come together to compete in the sport for 16 days.
The Commonwealth Games are held two years after the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In my opinion it is so important that these games are inclusive because there is no other competition in the world that is like the commonwealth games.
I believe that there should not be the Olympic and Paralympic games because all athletes should be seen as the same.
If athletes are to be classed as the same there should be one competition that covers all abilities and is held every four years in the same way as the Olympic games.
I would like to take this opportunity to urge the governing bodies of the Olympic and Paralympic games to consider creating a single event
If this is to happen everybody will be seen as equal which for those with disabilities is really important.
I am excited to see the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham take place as I know it will be an inclusive competition for all.
I hope that you have enjoyed reading this blog and understand why I feel it is important for sport to be inclusive
