I would like to thank all the unsung heroes up and down the country who make grassroots football happen day in and day out.
The work that you do does not go unnoticed by those who govern the beautiful game of football and that is why the England football and McDonald’s grassroots awards exist
If you are a volunteer for a club who helps to make grassroots football a reality for so many then you are changing the lives of footballers up and down the country.
It is important that young people who volunteer within the grassroots game also get the recognition that they deserve.
This is why the FA and McDonald’s reward the contributions of a young person each year by awarding them the prestigious honour of the rising star of the year.
If you see somebody who volunteers within your grassroots football set up then please take a few minutes to thank them for the work that they do for you.
I am incredibly grateful to all of the young people who volunteer their time to ensure that young people are heard by county FA’s and their partner organisations.
Without your voice young people across the country in all corners of England would not be represented and listened to within their county football Association.
Good luck for the reminder of the 2021/22 season.
