On Saturday, the 16th of July 2022 I was told that I needed to book wheelchair spaces on Transport for Wales operated train services.
This followed two separate incidences where I was forced to sit by the doors of trains due to the lack of wheelchair spaces on the services that were being operated by Transport for Wales (TFW).
I do not believe that I should have to book wheelchair spaces on trains because they are there to ensure that we are kept safe whilst travelling on the network.
I am shocked and upset by the stance that Transport for Wales are taking as a result of me highlighting this issue.
I have never experienced this on any other train operator and this has led me to take the decision not to travel with Transport for Wales (TFW) again.
I am also saddened by the amount of abuse I’ve received since I highlighted this issue with the support of the media.
I believe that people need to take the time to understand disabilities and the challenges that those living with them on a daily basis face.
I will continue to use train operators such as West Midlands Railway and Great Western Railway as I see trains as a lifeline for myself.
I hope that all of the noise that I have made on social media recently about this issue will go someway to raising awareness of it happening throughout the United Kingdom.
I am looking forward to receiving the outcome of Transport for Wales‘s Investigation into what went wrong and why this happened twice in such a short space of time.
I would as always like to take this opportunity to thank my readers and followers for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read this latest blog.
