I cannot believe that I’m having to write this blog today but unfortunately following some negative comments from the public recently I feel that I have no choice but to stand up for myself.
I have cerebral palsy and use a wheelchair because I was born at 25 weeks and weighed half a bag of sugar meaning that my legs and left arm do not function properly.
This doesn’t mean that I cannot live my life to the full and I do this by campaigning for young people who cannot speak up for themselves for a variety of reasons.
I accept that I am no different to my able-bodied counterparts the only difference between the two is the fact that I use a wheelchair to get around and not my legs.
I have been left disappointed by the recent negativity that I’ve received after working with the media to highlight one particular issue that I face on a regular basis.
I strongly believe that if the general public borrowed a wheelchair for a day and tried to navigate some of the challenges that we face they would most definitely struggle with them like we do.
I know that some of these challenges are ones that our able-bodied counterparts also face however it is incredibly difficult to navigate these challenges whilst being sat in a piece of metal this is why I highlight them with the support of the media.
To all those individuals who have sent me negative comments in recent weeks about the work that I’m doing, you will not win I will continue campaigning for what I believe in as I know that young people have the right to be heard and I am the voice in some cases for them.
I’m nearly in tears writing this blog because I don’t feel that I should have to justify the reasons why I’m on planet earth.
I have plenty of supporters who value my contribution to our society by standing up for what I believe in.
I am a rising star and this was proven at the 2021 FA and McDonald’s grassroots football awards.
I won this award after producing a podcast focusing on hate crime and the impact it can have on the lives of those who face it on a daily basis.
I know that I normally release my blogs on a Monday but I feel that I need to do this now in order to stand up for myself before the hate to gets any worse.
Finally as always I would like to place on record my thanks to all of my readers and followers for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read this latest blog but also to those who have supported me in recent years and months achieve my goals
