I often wonder if I am sitting target after being abused whilst walking through Birmingham city centre earlier this week.
On my way back to Birmingham new Street train station I was a victim of a hate crime.
A gentleman approached both myself and my friend who I was with asking us if we had any money so that he could buy a train ticket home to London.
He opened his dialogue with us by saying I wouldn’t normally ask somebody like you this because the way you are.
I found this incredibly upsetting and shocking because I wasn’t expecting it.
I am fed up of facing this type of abuse from the general public and I believe that more needs to be done to educate them about what is and isn’t acceptable to say to other members of our society.
I do not choose to be the way I am but unfortunately this is the card that I have been dealt and I have learnt to live with it in the best way that I can.
I have started to wonder if I am target because of the frequency that these incidents are occurring when I am out and about in public.
I will continue my work in educating the members of society about what is and isn’t acceptable to say to others.
I am blogging about this incident because it is my way up coming to terms with what I experienced.
As always I would like to thank both my readers and followers were taking time out of your busy schedules to read this latest blog.
