On Saturday the 5th of November 2022 England reached the T20 Cricket World Cup semi finals in Australia after a comfortable 4 wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Sydney.
England were in group 1 with hosts Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
It hasn’t been an easy ride down under for our men’s T20 side during this World Cup after they lost there group 1 game against Ireland in the early stages of the tournament.
However England did have a dream start to the tournament in Australia after a 5 wicket victory against Afghanistan which was followed up with a 5 wicket defeat by Ireland.
England bounced by strongly following this setback with victory over New Zealand and a score draw against the hosts (Australia) after the match was abandoned due to rain.
I’m sure that my readers and followers will remember that incredible T20 World Cup final at lords back in 2019 when England won the World Cup against New Zealand.
This tournament was won on the boundary count rule with England scoring 26 boundaries to New Zealand’s 19 on that occasion.
England’s semi final will take place tomorrow (Thursday) against India as we look to defend our T20 world title from 2019.
The other team who have qualified from group 1 are New Zealand and they are meeting Pakistan this morning (BST) down under.
The 2022 ICC T20 cricket World Cup final will then be contested on Sunday the 13th of November at 08:00 (BST)
Can England make it to the ICC T20 world cup final and retain the title that they secured back in 2019.
As always I would like to thank both my readers and followers for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest blog.
