I completed a 24 hour stay awake in aid of Birmingham children’s hospital who cared for me as a young person with disabilities from 1996 until 2014.
I have a device in my head called a VP shunt that drains fluid away from my brain.
I last visited Birmingham children’s hospital as an impatient in the January of 2008 to have my shunt replaced.
I did however also visit the children’s hospital on several occasions for check ups with my consultant .
I had my first shunt fitted on Friday the 18th of October 1996 at BCH (Birmingham Children’s Hospital)
I wanted to give something back to the Neurosurgery team who were awesome on so many occasions and that is why I’m trying to raise £500 following the completion of my challenge.
I spend the night watching television and playing on my phone in an attempt to remain occupied.
I started my evening off by watching some of my favourite shows including Doctors and Coronation Street.
As the clock struck midnight I started to watch episodes of the Netflix documentary about why Meghan & Harry left both the United Kingdom and Royal Family.
I had planned to watch the news as the time hit 7am however I was too busy preparing social media content and writing some blogs.
Birmingham children’s hospital will always hold a special place in my heart because of everything that they did for both myself and my family.
I am now under the care of the neurology team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham because I am an adult.
I am planning to complete more fund raising challenges for Birmingham children’s in the future because as I have already said I owe my life to them.
I know that this is another very short blog but I wanted to outline the reasons why i decided to do a stay awake.
In meantime if you would like to donate to my fundraising page you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/cam-wood-1670615400332?utm_source=copyLink&utm_medium=one_page&utm_content=page/cam-wood-1670615400332&utm_campaign=pfp-share&utm_term=dae0081e91ff44eea362b2d5a98098c3
As always I want to end by thanking both my readers and followers for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest blog.
