Having an advent calendar as a disabled person

I hate having an advent calendar as someone who only has one hand that works.

Opening an advent calendar with one hand is very difficult and I sometimes have to get support to do this.

I don’t like having to get support with this type of task because this is something that I like doing independently.

The purpose of this blog is to highlight an issue that the disabled community face each festive season when enjoying advent.

I am calling on advent calendar manufacturers to look at alternative ways of producing calendars for the disabled community so that they are accessible.

I was thinking that taps should be put on the edge of the doors so that we can pull them to open each of the doors without having to break the calendar.

I am fed up of having to damage my advent calendar each year in order to get my hands on the sweet treat each day.

I am sure that I am not the only disabled person in the United Kingdom who has this issue and it is not fair on us.

I hope that the manufacturers will take my opinions seriously, so that we can enjoy the 24 days of advent in the same way as our able-bodied counterparts.

This advert I have ended up ripping my calendar in an attempt to be independent and open the doors at a time that suits me.

It would be great if my readers and followers could share this blog far and wide so that others in this position can share their experiences with each other.

I have received feedback from my readers about the content of my blogs and that is why I have chosen to release a semi festive blog this evening.

I understand that this is an incredibly short blog, but I feel it is necessary to highlight one of the festive challenges that the disabled community face.

I hope that all of my readers and followers have a safe and happy Christmas
