On Tuesday, the 26th of July 2022 England took on Sweden in the European football Championships semifinal at Bramall Lane Sheffield.
England started with Mary Earps, Lucy bronze, Rachel Daly, Keira Walsh, millie Bright, Beth Mead, Leah Williamson, Ellen White, Georgia Stanway, Lauren Hemp and Fran Kirby.
Starting on the bench for England were Alex Greenwood, jess Carter, Hannah Hampton, Demi Stokes, Jill Scott, Nikita Parris, Chloe Kelly, Bethany England, Ella Toone, Ellie Roebuck, Lotte Wubben-Moy and Alessia Russo.
The lioness has started to go well with early chances from Georgia Stanway and Ellen White early into the game.
There were 34 minutes of chances for England’s Beth Mead scored an incredible go to put England 1-0 up Against Sweden in there 2022 European football championship semi-final.
The lionesses went into the half term break one go to the good thanks to some incredible play by the lionesses after a shaky start which saw Sweden nearly go ahead in the first few minutes of the match.
A few minutes into the second half England’s Lucy Bronze scored however there was a video assistant referee check for potential offside.
A minute or so later video assistant referee check was complete and the goal stood meaning that England went to an app in the women’s European football championship semi-final.
12 minutes into the second half England made the first substitution of the match bringing on Alessia Russo to replace Ellen White.
A matter of seconds after Alessia Russo entered the field of play she sat up a chance for Lauren hemp who failed to keep the ball under control and sent it into the stands.
England goalkeeper Mary Earps was on fire in the second half to keep Sweden at bay and she did this with a few magnificent saves.
On the 68th minute Alessia Russo scored England’s third goal of the semi-final with an incredible backheel into the net.
The crowd at Bramall Lane began singing is coming home with 20 minutes ago however we all know what happened in the men’s competition in 2021 when they were beaten by Italy at Wembley in the final.
There were 28,624 fans inside Bramall Lane to watch England take on Sweden for a place in the UEFA European women’s football championship final at Wembley.
A few minutes later England’s Fran Kirby scored Our fourth, She was then substituted and replaced by Ella Toone.
The crowd then continued to sing it’s coming home in what was a carnival atmosphere in Sheffield.
Beth Mead, Georgia Stanway and Rachel Daly were replaced by Jill Scott, Alex Greenwood and Chloe Kelly.
There were three additional minutes added on at the end of normal time which England managed to navigate unscathed.
England headed to Wembley and took on Germany In the UEFA women’s European football championship final.
