Yeasterday (Tuesday, 7th of February 2023) I was forced to navigate 2 sets of pavement parking in the city of Hereford.
This happened in the space of a single hour and on the second occasion I was forced to head into the road in my wheelchair.
This left me incredibly vulnerable because cars were coming towards me in both directions whilst I was trying to get around the parked vehicle.
As I have written in another blog of this subject the government received over 15,000 responses to their public consultation about possible solutions to the nations complex pavement parking issue.
I don’t think any measures put in place by the government will change peoples parking habits in the United Kingdom.
I would again like to urge the public not to park on our pavement network because it will endanger the lives of those who use wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
I know that it might be convenient for you to park on the pavement for just a couple of minutes but that can make all the difference to a member of the disabled community.
I also believe that the public will only stand up and listen to our calls when there is a major accident involving a member of the disabled community.
I am so excited to see what the governments informed decision will be once it is made following the review of all consultation responses received.
I am also fed up of having to walk back on myself to find another drop curb because someone has parked over the one that I was intending to use.
I am on BBC Hereford and Worcester just after 8am this morning (Wednesday the 8th of February 2023) talking about this very issue following the release of a government report on the subject.
I know that this is another very short blog but I wanted to take this opportunity to urge the public not to park on our pavement network as you will not know who you are affecting.
As always I would like to end by thanking each and everyone of my followers and readers for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest blog.
