Why I was still to walking the streets of London at 1am this morning.

I was still walking the streets on London at 1am this morning (Good Friday) because of travel chaos.

As many of my readers and followers will know I watched the England lionesses take on Brazil at Wembley with my best friend, Dan last night.

We left Wembley Stadium at 21:50 just after the final whistle to get our taxi back to the hotel we were staying at.

We used the app Gett to book taxis during our visit to the capital however drivers cancelled our journeys on a number of occasions after the match.

We tried to book a taxi for over an hour before deciding to get a tube from Wembley Park to Hendon Central tube station.

The staff at Wembley Park tube station advised us to go via Kings Cross station because that route was step free access the whole way.

We arrived back at Hendon Central station just after 12:30am and then faced a 30 minute walk to the hotel.

There was a lack of support for those requiring assistance to travel across the capital which was incredibly difficult to understand following a major sporting event.

I was scared at times travelling across the capital in the early hours of this morning, which wasn’t a nice feeling.

If I had to give a message to the those assisting supporters to travel home from the match using public transport then it would be this.

Please review your plans for getting supporters home from Wembley especially those who require more support because they have mobility issues.

I’ve been put off visiting Wembley using public transport because of the nightmare that I experienced after the match.

It’s easier to travel by car to Wembley Stadium if you are in a wheelchair because that way you can avoid the travel chaos.

I know this is a very short blog that might come across as negative but I wanted to share my experiences of travelling from Wembley on public transport whilst using a wheelchair.

I would like to end by taking the opportunity to thank all of my readers and followers for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest blog.
