My pavement campaign gets a mention in the House of Common’s

My recent pavement campaign success was mentioned in the House of Common’s by the Right Hon Jesse Norman MP on the 20th of April.

Jesse is the MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire and a Minister of State at the Department for Transport.

Minister Norman was responding to a question at the dispatch box in the house from Antony Higginbotham the MP for Burnley and Padiham.

The minister praised his constituents work on behalf of the disabled community living in both Burnley and across the country.

Jesse said, I thank my hon. Friend for that; he has been a great champion of this cause. I absolutely join him in praising his constituent. Let me also praise Cameron Wood in my constituency, who has been equally hard-working in pressing the case for the improvement of disabled access.

This has made my recent campaign worth while and I am incredibly grateful to both Jesse Norman and Richard Holden, Minister for Roads and Local Transport who I met with last month to discuss the success of my campaign.

As I have already mentioned in previous blogs the last 4 years have been incredibly difficult when attempting to get Herefordshire Council to engage with me on this issue.

I have been invited by Jesse Norman to meet with both him as Minister of State for Active Travel and the Chief Executive Officer of Active Travel England, Danny Williams.

It is looking like the meeting will take place in London at the beginning of June this year and is something that I am extremely excited for.

I plan to ask both the Minister and CEO of Active Travel England how rural routes can be improved for those who use wheelchairs and mobility scooters and like to get outdoors.

I am hoping for some reassurance with regards to what work is being undertaken to improve this area of Active Travel across the nation.

I know that this is both a boring and short blog but I wanted to share with you, my readers and followers how grateful I am to the ministers at the Department for Transport for there support following the success of my campaign.

I would like to end in my normal way by taking the opportunity to thank each and everyone of my readers and followers for take time out of their busy schedules to read my blogs each week.
