This afternoon following the conclusion of Herefordshire Council’s full council meeting I have written to the new Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure at the authority.
I wrote to them as a Disability Rights Campaigner, Wheelchair User and Hereford Resident urging them to engage with us a community during their time in office over the next 4 years.
I went onto share the reasons as to why I believe that I was failed by the previous 2 administrations at the authority and urged them to be a different administration for the residents of Herefordshire.
I also reminded them of my recent campaign success with regards to getting more dropped curbs added to Harrow Road and Plough Lane in the city of Hereford.
I also told them of a very recent experience where I was forced to rock myself free from a piece of cracked pavement on Grandstand Road just outside Hereford city centre.
I also urged both councillors to meet with me in the coming weeks so that we can discuss how the disabled community living in county can help inform key decisions when accessibility is being taken into consideration.
I also spoke of both my anger and upset about the fact that the outgoing Cabinet Member for Transport & Infrastructure, Cllr John Harrington only engaged with me properly when ITV News Central became interested in my pavement campaign.
I also urged the new Cabinet Member for T&I (Transport & Infrastructure) to respond to the governments letter with a matter of urgency because they received it on Monday the 20th of March this year and hadn’t responded at the time that I wrote this.
I am excited to receive there responses to my letters in the near future and hopefully they will take on board my points of view during the course of there term in office.
I know that this is a relatively short and boring blog but I wanted to share some of the contents of my letters to the Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure at Herefordshire Council with you, my readers and followers.
Thank you to each and everyone of you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest blog.
