Herefordshire Council have failed to deliver on the promise that they made to me back in September last year with regards to the time scale to deal with the drop kerb issues in the city.
Councillors said that any of the outstanding work from their countywide pavement review would be completed in the next financial year which started in April this year.
As of yesterday afternoon (Sunday the 18th of June) there are still 4 kerbs that are yet to be dropped on Westfailing Street in Hereford, which is very disappointing to see.
We are now 3 months into the current financial year and nothing has changed in respect of this issue.
The local authority also promised last year that they would be putting funds aside on a yearly basis to deal with historic issues relating to the pavement network across Herefordshire.
I have concerns that the new Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure at Herefordshire Council will scrap this promise because it was made by the previous administration.
If I had to give a message to the new Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure at the Council my message would be this, Please deliver on the previous administrations promise to me because if you don’t it will mean that Hereford is once again inaccessible to those who use wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
I don’t believe that this promise will be delivered on and that makes me feel incredibly sad because I would have been lied too.
As many of you, my readers and followers will know I have secured a meeting with the new Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure at the council in the coming weeks to discuss this very issue amongst others.
It has been 91 days since Richard Holden, the Minster for Roads and Local Transport wrote to Herefordshire Council for an explanation about why it took them so long to act on my concerns
I don’t believe that the Minister will receive an explanation from Herefordshire Council in relation to this matter because it has been to long since first contact was made.
This makes me incredibly angry, because the least that I deserve is an explanation as to why I wasn’t listened to when I first raised these issues with the local authority.
I know that this is another very short blog but I wanted to share with you, my readers and followers why I believe that Herefordshire Council’s promise won’t be delivered on.
I would like to end by taking the opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my blogs every week without fail.
