On Saturday the 22nd of October 2022 I travelled to the Poundland Bescot Stadium in Walsall to watch Aston Villa take on Everton in the Women’s Super League (WSL).
Aston Villa started with the following 11 for this match : Anna Leat, Sarah Mayling, Anna Patten, Danielle Turner, Mayumi Pacheco, Rachel Corsie, Kenza Dali, Laura Blindkilde Brown, Alisha Lehmann, Rachel Daly and Kirsty Hanson.
The following players started the match on the substitutes bench for Aston Villa: Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Olivia McLoughlin, Natasha Harding, Freya Gregory, Isobel Goodwin, Evie Rabjohn.
Everton started with the following 11 players for the match: Courtney Brosnan, Katrine Veje, Rikke Sevecke, Nathalie Bjorn, Gabrielle George, Hanna Bennison, Jess Park, Lucy Graham, Megan Finnigan, Katja Snoeijs, Karen Holmgaard.
The following players started this match on the substitutes for Everton: Emily Ramsey, Clare Wheeler, Izzy Christiansen, Agnes Beever- Jones, Gio, Leonie Maier, Aurora Galli, Kenzie Weir and Elsie Stenevik.
Aston Villa and Everton started the game well with both sides having multiple chances at either end in the first half.
The sides went in at the break in stalemate with the score remaining 0-0.
On the 57th minute Everton captain Lucy Graham scored Everton’s opener and this would prove to be a decisive goal with Everton winning the match 0-1.
Aston Villa never really got going in the second half in my opinion and quite frankly we deserved to lose the game.
Rachel Daly and Alisha Lehmann did however try to put the ball in the back of the net but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
Villa head coach Carla Ward did attempt to make some impact substitutions in the second half by bringing on: Goodwin, Gregory and Harding but unfortunately they didn’t have the desired impact on the final outcome.
I have loved watching Villa woman’s team in recent weeks because we have started WSL season in great form.
I currently have no plans to return to the Poundland Bescot stadium in 2022 but I may however consider returning this year to watch Aston Villa woman in the women’s super league (WSL)
As always I would like to thank both of my readers and followers for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read yet another one of my blogs.
