I recently cancelled my pride membership for Aston Villa after it was announced by the club that wheelchair bays would cost between £72 and £55 depending on what premier league matches are categorised as and where I choose to sit in the stadium for league
There are a couple of areas within the stadium that wheelchair users can choose to sit when attending matches and they are:
- Trinity Road Stand
- The Holte End
The club qualified for the 2024/25 champions league competition at the end of last season leading the club announcing the match-day pricing structure now that we know who we will be playing on the following dates at Villa Park:
Matchday 1 – Bayern Munich on Wednesday October the 2nd, 2024.
Matchday 2 – Bologna on Tuesday October the 22nd, 2024.
Matchday 3 – Juventus on Wednesday November the 27th, 2024.
Matchday 4 – Celtic on Wednesday January the 29th, 2025.
The Pricing Structure (for the wheelchair bays only)
Adult: £85.00 – Supporters will pay £70.00 if a season ticket holder.
Over 66 or Under 21: £75.00 – Supporters will pay £65.00 if a season ticket holder.
Armed Forces: £78.00 – Supporters will pay £68.00 if a season ticket holder.
Under 18: £30 – Supporters will pay £20 if a season ticket holder.
I’m very concerned that disabled supporters won’t be able to enjoy the experience of champions league football because of the shocking pricing structure as many of us are on either low incomes or no income at all.
Mr Heck and the senior management at Aston Villa Club Football should seriously consider what they are asking our loyal disabled supporters to pay when attending these matches, last season I only paid £25.00 to attend a couple of European matches and have been priced out of attending any during the 2024/25 campaign.
I completely support the action that is being taken by many supporters groups in the lead up to and during our clash with Everton on Saturday September the 12th, 2024. I intend to turn my back and not watch the first 97 seconds of the match which is being broadcast live on sky sports.
Mr Chris Heck, Aston Villa’s President and the rest of his management team should resign from the club with immediate effect, following the backlash that this decision has caused.
The disabled supporters have clearly been forgotten and the club think that they can just rip us off!!!!!
