Accessibility signage in the form of waiting spaces on each of the 2 platforms at Witton Lane and Aston station’s was installed on the 31st of January and the 8th of May this year with a view to the assisted travel provision offered by West Midlands Trains on match-days improving.
I would like to repeat my message to Villa supporters that I have repeatedly given since the signage was installed, please remember that the wheelchair users using the network to get home from matches will require access to the waiting spaces on each of the platforms. They are there to ensure that we can be seen and accessed by the senior conductor and event station staff once the train has arrived at the station.
The signage at both stations has been a massive success for local residents and football supporters who have mobility issues and other disabilities who use the stations when travelling to and from the stadium on match-days.
The lift between platform 1 and the station exit is currently out of order at Aston with no date for when they are going to be fixed at present, the advice is for supporters with mobility issues and other disabilities to travel to and from Witton Lane station on match-days until the lift has been fixed.
