Those who use wheelchairs and mobility scooters will be at risk of sliding into roads as surface water remains following storm Eowyn.

Those who use wheelchairs or mobility scooters will be at risk of sliding off pavements and into on coming traffic as surface water sticks around following Storm Éowyn being in Herefordshire.

The county and large parts of the midlands is set to see some water on the roads this afternoon after the windy weather moves away from the region.

As someone who uses a wheelchair I understand how hazardous conditions can be when rain and wind comes into play, a few years a go I slid into the road towards an oncoming vehicle.

This post is not about having a go at our community or any motorists, I just want to remind all parties weather that is motorists or the disabled community of the dangers that these conditions can throw up.

My message to those who use mobility aids is simple, drivers will be not driving for you, they will be focusing on the road conditions that they are presented with, wind makes it a little more tricky.

Motorists, please where possible, keep an eye on the pavement network when approaching any junctions I do however appreciate how difficult this can be as you are presented with these conditions that you have to of course focus on.

Did you find this reminder useful with regards to how all members of our society can support each other during the increased weather episodes that we seem to having across the country, if the answer is yes then why not subscribe and receive future posts direct to your inbox within just a few minutes of publication.
