The met office has issued a yellow warning for both wind and rain which is set to batter Herefordshire along with large parts of the Midlands today (26th January).
The warning for rain is due to be in place from 8am this morning until 6am on Monday (27th January), a yellow weather warning for wind is also expected to be in effect from the same time as the rain one until 5pm this evening.
Some of our community might not be able to get out and about safely during the next couple of days so I urge anyone who has elderly and vulnerable relatives or neighbours to check in on them ahead and during the weather warnings.
They may also struggle to stay warm once the wind hits the region so here are a few tips on how to help keep us safe and of course warm in the next couple of days.
- Ensure they have access to something that’s hot this could be a hot drink, heated blanket or hot water bottle.
- Ensure there heating is on if they are able to have it on overnight.
If you have to find 5 or 10 minutes within your day to go and check in on a vulnerable relative or neighbour just do it as you will be helping to save a life.
Remember we are vulnerable and are most at risk during this latest weather episode.
