I am not being forced into a game of disability lottery when it comes to Personal Independence Payment, a benefit which I rely on to live on a daily basis, so that the government can save billions of pounds
MP’s will return to the House of Commons on Tuesday (8th of July, 2025) for the third reading of the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment bill ahead of it potentially passing through the House of Commons.
As I said in my post on this very subject from the 1st of July personal independence payment isn’t pocket money to those of us from the disabled community who receive it from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on a monthly basis.
My message to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, the Work and Pensions secretary, Liz Kendall and there government remains from the same and is this, “why are you continuing to put our community through hell no matter how many concessions you give MPs it will not change what we are experiencing as those who are directly affected by all of this”.
“Please consult us on this and any other proposed changes to the way that disabled people live their lives in the future to avoid this type of situation from happening again”.
” It is time that all members of the house see sense at the third reading of the bill and vote against it so that it doesn’t make it to the House of Lords”
At second reading on July 1st, 2025 335 MP’s voted in favour of bill with 260 members voting against it and they included Hereford and South Herefordshire MP, Jesse Norman along with Ellie Chowns who represents the constituency of North Herefordshire.
I am pleased that our MP’s recognise the detrimental impact this bill will have on our community both now and in the years to come.
We (the disabled community) are just tickets that can be brought in the same way as a lottery based on the nature of our disabilities it appears in the eyes of the government and MPs
Please, please, please do the right thing and vote against the bill as this shouldn’t be allowed to pass and there aren’t many more concessions that be made by the government so that it does pass.

As I have said before I would like to thank Jesse in his capacity as my MP, along with his constituency team for taking my concerns on this issue so seriously in recent weeks and months. It hasn’t gone unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated as always.
I know that this is my second post of the day on a similar topic, but I wanted to write something ahead of the crucial vote.
