Racegoers heading to Pitchcroft this evening for the Worcester races by rail who have disabilities or mobility issues can travel with confidence thanks to the waiting spaces and other types of accessibility signage at local stations.
Last year (2024) saw the team from West Midlands Trains install waiting spaces and other types of signage at Foregate Street and Shrub Hill railway stations, after I campaigned for equal access to the railways for those with accessibility needs.
The spaces can be found on all platforms at both stations and come in the form of blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo and the words “for mobility assistance, please wait here”.
My message to racegoers who are planning to attend the fixture which starts at 17:05 and concludes at 20:55 is this, please be mindful of where you stand the platforms at both railway stations that serve the course. Those needing assistance to board services home will need access to the spaces at all times whilst at the station.
Station staff and train crew will also need to see the spaces at all times, this is so they can see if anyone requires some assistance and is using one of the dedicated boxes on the platforms.
” Turn up and Go” is your right as someone who requires assisted travel to remain independent, however if you wish your assisted travel can be booked upto 2 hours before departure in 1 of 3 ways.

I wish all those attending the races later a safe, successful and enjoyable evening and thank them for taking the time to read all about the accessibility provision that is on offer to racegoers at Worcester Foregate Street and Shrub Hill stations when travelling to Pitchcroft, the home of Worcester races.
As always I take the opportunity to thank the incredible team at West Midlands Trains who have gone above and beyond in recent months to ensure that our community can travel with confidence and ease across the rail network that they manage. It hasn’t gone unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated as always.
A thank you must also go to you, my loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest post, it as always doesn’t go unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated.
