I have been left feeling a sense of anger and confusion after the equipment supplier who maintain my bed goes bust.
The company who are known as NRS Healthcare were Herefordshire Council’s supplier for specialist beds and much more until last Friday (1st August,2025).
They have simply ran out of cash leading to the local authority having to find alternative suppliers within a matter of hours.
As a service user I cannot begin to understand why the local authority didn’t contact the service users of the supplier to inform us of the situation, and have left us to find out via the media.
My message to the local authority is a clear one and is this, “please contact us at your earliest convenience to reassure and let us know what happens next”.
“Why weren’t we told months ago that the provider was struggling and they could go bust”.
“ I along with thousands of others have been left in a state of shock and that is totally unfair and unacceptable”.
“If this type of situation was to happen again, I urge you to do things differently.
All I can do is hope that nothing goes wrong with my bed until I have contact with the new provider.
I know that this is a relatively short post this morning as it is my first of many this week, but I wanted to react to this very unsettling news as soon as I had time to digest it.
