Villa Park falls silent as Aston Villa Women & London City Lioness pay tribute to our service personnel.

In the next few minutes Villa Park in Birmingham will fall silent once again as Aston Villa Women and London City Lioness pay tribute to our service personnel ahead of there Women’s Super League clash

Every November football clubs up and down the country pay their respects to our service personnel.

The act of remembrance normally takes place at the clubs closest home game to armistice day on the 11th of November.

In 2022 I attended a Carabao Cup third round fixture where I was able to pay my respects to those who have sacrificed their lives for our safety along with thousands of others, as this was the host clubs closest fixture to armistice day.

This was the first time that I’ve attended a football match where the clubs involved have United to thank those who have served our country on our behalf.

On that occasion it was disappointing to see some supporters in the away section of the stadium fail to pay their respects in a dignified manner. As the match referee blew his whistle to start the 2 minute silence some supporters in the stadium decided to ruin the tribute by making noise.

Acts like these are incredibly frustrating for people like myself who want to pay tribute to those who have risked their safety for the people of the United Kingdom.

It’s vital that organisations like the Women’s Super League urge all 12 clubs to carry out acts of remembrance each year.

There will be people reading this who will be thinking why is he writing another post of this nature and my answer to this question is this.

Recent years have seen me write posts like these because I believe it is important that every element of our society has the opportunity to pay there respects to those who go above and beyond to ensure the safety of us and the communities that we live in.

To every member of our armed forces “ Thank you” for the sacrifice you have made for us as citizens of the United Kingdom, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and is very much appreciated.

Hero’s is the only word that I can use to describe what you have done for our country.

Finally, “thank you” to you my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts, it doesn’t go unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated.
