I will be staying inside as much as possible this week after the UK Health Security Agency issued “Cold Health Alert”

As someone with disabilities I will be staying indoors as much as possible this week after the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued a “Cold Health Alert” which came into effect at 12pm today (Monday November the 17th, 2025) and is set to expire at 8am on Saturday (November 22nd, 2025).

When I ventured outside just after 9am this morning It was very cold, meaning that I decided to wear my hat and gloves to stay as warm as I could, in a post from earlier this year I shared some useful tips about how to help the most vulnerable within our society keep warm during incidents like these.

The Tips!

  1. Don’t have them sitting still for more than an hour or so.

2. If they are someone who finds it difficult to move around, stretching their arms or legs from a sitting position (if they are able to) can also help to keep them warm.

3. Ask them if they would like some hot food, and drink or a blanket as those with circulation problems find it incredibly hard to keep warm at any time of the year but especially in the winter months (November, December, January & February)
