I attended Hereward College in Coventry between 2012 and 2014 as a 16/17 year old where I studied a BTEC sport diploma at level 2 along with a number of other courses like functional skills Maths and English.
As someone who was a keen dressage rider and a Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) national champion, I travelled home to Hereford by rail every Friday evening for training from Tile Hill station.
Since January last year I have been continually asking the team at London Northwestern Railway (LNR), if Tile Hill station which is located near to Hereward College can have new accessibility tools on the platforms.
This followed successful trials of waiting spaces and signage at other stations managed by West Midlands Railway last year which are: Aston, Witton Lane, Coventry Arena, The Hawthorns, Kenilworth, Lye, Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Telford Central, Selly Oak, Shenstone, Blake Street, Gravelly Hill, Chester Road, Wylde Green, Erdington, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield and Litchfield City.
Blue and white boxes featuring a white wheelchair logo and the words ” for mobility assistance, please wait here” along with signage positioned near to where the spaces are on the platforms, mirroring the same messaging will be able to be seen from either end of the platforms by station staff, train crew and passengers once installed next year.
Due to high speed trains passing though the station, the spaces and signage will have to be positioned on the platforms in the same direction as the trains are travelling in to keep passengers safe on the platforms.
Those requiring assistance to board or disembark trains across the rail network can book your assisted travel up to 2 hours before departure in 1 of 3 ways:
By Phone: 0800 024 8998 or by using Next Generation Text – 18001 0800 024 8998.
Online: https://booking.passengerassistance.com.
By using the App: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/passenger-assistance/id1542190496.
However you do have a legal right to just turn up at a railway station and travel without booking any assistance prior to departure.

It is only right that I take this opportunity to thank the entire team at London Northwestern Railway for all there hard work and dedication to finding a way for the station to have the tools I know this hasn’t been an easy task for you.
A thank you must also go to you, my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read to my latest posts, it doesn’t go unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated.
