I am delighted that the students of Hereward College in Coventry are set to benefit from waiting spaces and signage on the platforms at nearby Tile Hill railway station.
Having attended the college for 2 years over a decade ago and travelled home to Hereford from the station every Friday evening during that time, I understand more than most how much the students will benefit from these changes.
Those reading this will know by now that I have been working with the team at London Northwestern Railway for the last few years on a project to improve the accessibility of the stations that they manage for those with disabilities or mobility issues.
Since the project began in January last year I have been lobbying the operator to install the waiting spaces and signage at Tile Hill station, following successes of it at other stations in the region.
The spaces come in the form of blue and white boxes which feature a white wheelchair logo and the words ” for mobility assistance, please wait here”, there is also signage mirroring the same messaging located near to where the spaces will be located on the platforms.
Rail passengers who require some assistance to board or disembark services, can book there assisted travel up to 2 hours before departure in 1 of 3 ways:
