Throughout 2025 I have been on some station visits to Telford, Selly Oak and Sutton Coldfield with the team from West Midlands railway to see the newly installed spaces and signage on the platforms.

Those reading this will know by now that the stations in Shenstone, Blake Street, Gravelly Hill, Chester Road, Erdington, Four Oaks and Wylde Green all had the same improvements this year (2025).

Blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo and the words ” for mobility assistance, please wait here” along with signage positioned near to where the spaces are located on the platforms mirroring the same messaging can be seen from either end of the platforms by passengers, station staff and train crew.

As you can properly tell this year hasn’t been as exciting as last (2024), when I was given the opportunity by the Department for Transport to attend a royal garden party at Buckingham Palace which was hosted by King Charles III, Queen Camilla, the Dukes and Duchess’s of Edinburgh and Gloucester alongside the Princess Royal.

Having said that I am honoured to have helped to improve the lives of thousands of people living with disabilities or mobility issues across the Midlands, this year.

There is still plenty of work to do around this issue both here in the Midlands and the United Kingdom as a whole.

It’s only right that I end the year by taking the opportunity to thank the incredible team at West Midlands Railway/ London Northwestern Railway for there dedication and hard work towards the project this year which hasn’t of course gone unnoticed and is very much appreciated.
