Earlier this year (2025) I wrote to the Cabinet Member for Roads and Regulatory services at Herefordshire Council about the need for disabled parking bays in one of Hereford’s biggest car parks.
As someone with a disability who is a wheelchair user I rely on having access to disabled parking bays when being dropped off in places like the city centre.
I submitted a freedom of information request to Herefordshire Council on the same day I wrote to the Cabinet Member, the request asked , how many disabled parking bays there are in the county, including on street ones and why there isn’t currently any in arguably the cities biggest car park.
As those of you reading this will know by now they (the council) responded by saying that there is currently no plans for disabled bays in the car park I asked about which I will not name in this post.
When writing this earlier today (Wednesday the 31st of December 2025) I still hadn’t received a response or had any acknowledgment to my letter or email from the person in charge of the counties car parks.
Hopefully my readers can think about this question, how am I supposed to hold key decision makers at the local authority to account if they won’t even engage with me.
It is simply not possible and needs to change today and not in the next 5 or 10 years when it suits.

A thank should really go to Herefordshire Council and there out going contractor, Balfour Beatty Living Places (BBLP) who have worked hard in recent years to install a number of dropped curbs in the county following my relentless campaigning, this hasn’t gone unnoticed and is as always very much appreciated.
