I can’t always see the action at Villa Park if I have seats in the corners of the stadium due to the visual impairment I have

As a massive supporter of Aston Villa I can’t always see the action on the pitch if I have seats in the corners of the Trinity Road stand because of the visual impairment I have.

Block’s C8 & 9 that are located in the Trinity Road stand near to the North stand are a prime example of this, along with block C1 in the same stand next to the famous Holte End of the stadium.

These are the wheelchair bays that I hate because I spend most of the match when sitting there facing the opposite direction, watching the big screen so that I can try and see at least some of the match action.

Sometimes my best friend, who I attend matches with in the second city even has to tell me what has happened at the other end of the pitch if I am unable to see what is going on.

This can be incredibly frustrating if I have paid between £55 and £72 for the tickets, it’s hardly worth it when it comes to not being able to see. Unfortunately because I am only a member of the club (Aston Villa) and not a season ticket holder I don’t have access to the same wheelchair bay on a regular basis.

When supporting the football team that I love I should be able to see all of the action on the pitch or at least some of it at a minimum. The 29th of January this year will see me return to Villa Park when Birmingham’s claret and blue side take on RB Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League group stage.

Despite purchasing a wheelchair bay in area C8 on the Trinity Road stand as that was the only one available at the time of purchase some months ago I am still very excited to be returning to the home of the claret and blue’s for the first time this year.

In 2024 I wrote a post about the fact that I was not prepared to pay between £55 and £72 for wheelchair bays depending on what band the match is categorised as, and why should I if all I am going to do is struggle to see any of the action or my favourite players, Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers on the field of play.

Aston Villa need to work with disabled supporters like myself to improve our matchday experience so that we have the same opportunity as our able-bodied peers when visiting Villa Park in B6 as and when we are able to do so.

Things need to change today and not in the next 5 or 10 years when it suits the club!!!!!
