Think “ do I really need to use “ for mobility assistance, please wait here” today as storm Goretti visits the Midlands region today (Friday the 9th January,2026)
Those reading this will know that since January 2024 the team at West Midlands Railway have installed waiting spaces and signage at a number of stations they manage across the network.
Railway stations with the tools are: Aston, Witton Lane, The Hawthorns, Coventry Arena, Kenilworth, Lye, Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Telford Central, Selly Oak, Shenstone, Blake Street, Wylde Green, Gravelly Hill, Erdington, Chester Road, Four Oaks, Lichfield City and Sutton Coldfield.
The blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo and the words “ for mobility assistance, please wait here’ along with signage mirroring the same messaging near to where the spaces are located on the platforms, can be seen from either end of them by station staff, train crew and passengers.
If it is vital that you travel on the railways today (Friday, the 9th of January, 2026) in the Midlands and require assistance to board or disembark services , your assisted travel can be booked up to 2 hours before departure in 1 of 3 ways:
