I and members of the disabled community should never have to apologise for our disabilities as they are not our fault.

Those of you reading this right now will know that the BAFTA’s took place last night.

The film I swear was nominated for some awards and is based on the life of John Davidson, someone who lives with Tourette’s syndrome.

During the ceremony, John was ticking, leading to the host of the evening having to apologise for his comments.

I completely understand that some of either the audience at the awards or those watching at home may have found the comments offensive if they had been heard.

Of course there is no place for racism in any of society and I don’t for one minute condone it in any away.

However, I will never apologise for the disabilities that I have as they are not my fault and never will be.

Cerebral palsy is an awesome condition and always will be and the same goes for all other disabilities that people within our society currently live with.

Finally, my message to the public is this, nobody should ever feel forced into apologising for disabilities that they live with because they cannot help it and they should be accepted for who they are.

This leads me onto my next point in which I remind you that “ if you haven’t got anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all”.

Disabilities are of course there to be celebrated and not judged.

The big question is “ should disabilities be apologised for within our society?, This question is certainly dividing opinion this morning.
