The 3 new railway stations in the Midlands should be opened with accessible waiting spaces and signage on the platforms.

Three new railway stations in the Midlands are set to open this year and to be managed by West Midlands Railway.

A railway line known as the “ Camp Hill line” will be the home of Moseley, Pineapple Road and Kings Heath stations from later this year, following a couple years of delay.

Those of you reading this will know that I have been working with the now publicly funded railway operator since 2023 to ensure that stations across the network they are responsible for become accessible to all.

Blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo and the words “ for mobility assistance, please wait here” along with signage mirroring the same messaging would of benefit to the residents living around the stations or those visiting the area if they have disabilities or mobility issues.

A number of stations in the Midlands have the accessibility tools already and they include: Witton Lane , Aston, Coventry Arena, The Hawthorns and Tile Hill with hopefully some more to come in 2026.

My message to West Midlands Railway is a clear one and this, I urge you to secure funding from the Department for Transport to install these vital accessiblity tools that the new stations opening in the region this year.

However I completely understand that the project so far has been costly to deliver, but it has been vital for those with disabilities or mobility issues in the region to keep some independence.

Please to the right thing and apply for some funding from the government so that these 3 new stations can be included in the project.

The project is 100% changing lives and has been since the start in 2024!!!!.
