Birmingham’s 3 new railway stations should have accessible waiting spaces and signage on the platforms, allowing those with disabilities or mobility issues to use the rail network with ease.

The 3 new railway stations in Birmingham should have accessible waiting spaces and signage on the platforms, allowing those with disabilities or mobility issues to travel with ease and confidence around the local area and into the city centre.

Railway stations in Kings Heath, on Pineapple Road and in Moseley Village are set to open on Tuesday April the 7th 2026, all of which will be managed by the publicly funded operator, West Midlands Railway (WMR).

Those of you reading this will know that I have been working with the accessibility team at the operator for the best part of the last couple of years to help them improve the accessibility of some of the stations they are responsible for.

Blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo and the words ” for mobility assistance, please wait here” along with signage mirroring the same messaging that is positioned near to where the spaces are located on the platforms or directly behind them can be found at various stations across the network.

However with three new stations opening on the network in the coming weeks, it is only right that these stations see the installation of the accessibility tools on the platforms in the near future.

Passengers with accessibility requirements are already benefitting from the tools in other parts of the region including: Birmingham, Coventry, Worcester, Shropshire and Warwickshire so why can’t the south of the city (Birmingham) have the same treatment.

My message to the team at WMR (West Midlands Railway) is a clear one and is this, please can the new stations of the Camp Hill railway line, King’s Heath, Pineapple Road and Moseley Village be considered for the accessibility tools in the not to distant future.

Our (the disabled) community are already benefiting from the improvements across the region and it is time for even more of us to have a seamless travel experience when using the rail network in the Midlands and of course beyond.

As you already know I cannot thank each and everyone of you enough for what you have already done in recent years to ensure that those requiring assistance to board or disembark trains, can do so with ease and confidence for many years to come.

Please continuing working with me in order to find a reasonable solution to the issue at these stations.
