The waiting spaces and signage are now in place on the platforms at Aston Railway station, just under 2 years on from when I visited the station with officials from the operator to see the chosen locations.
In the hours before Aston Villa’s UEFA Conference League in B6 with French side LOSC Lille I headed to Aston Station near Villa Park to check out the locations chosen for the new accessibility signage.
Since then installed has been completed by the now publicly funded operator meaning that football supporters and local residents who have mobility issues or disabilities can use the station with both ease and confidence.
Aston Villa take on the French outfit once again Villa Park this evening as the sides meet in the second leg of there quarter final in the UEFA Europa League. supporters of both sides will have access to the tools regardless of if they travel from Aston or Witton Lane railway stations.
Blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo and the words ” for mobility assistance, please wait here” along with signage mirroring the same messaging positioned directly behind where the spaces are located.
This feels like a full circle moment when it comes to this (Aston) station having these tools at the time of a repeat of this match, which I am of course delighted to see.
