The next station stops with accessible waiting spaces and signage on the platforms should be Mosley Village, Pineapple Road and King Heath.
All three railway stations operated by West Midlands Railway opened on the Camp Hill Railway line this morning (Tuesday April the 7th,2026)
A number of stations in the Midlands now have the accessibility tools on the platforms, where possible thanks to the operator understanding the need for a more an accessible rail network in the region for those with disabilities or mobility issues.
Since the start of the year (2026) Marston Green station in Solihull and university which can be found on the railway line between Birmingham New Street and Hereford have seen the introduction on the blue and white squares on the platforms.
I first met with the team from the publicly funded operator, West Midlands Railway at Witton Station near Villa Park in the November of 2023 where I showed them the issues that I and others faced when using the rail network across the region.
22 railway stations now have the tools on the platforms in the region and they are: Aston, Witton, The Hawthorns, Coventry Arena, Kenilworth, Lye, Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Selly Oak, Telford Central, Shenstone, Blake Street, Wylde Green, Gravelly Hill, Chester Road, Erdington, Sutton Coldfield, Four Oaks, Tile Hill, Marston Green, University and Lichfield City.
If the tools are added to the platforms at these new stations then 6 more waiting spaces could come into use on the rail network in the Midlands.
Those with disabilities or mobility issues should be able to access the railways with confidence and ease without fear on running into accessibility difficulties when travelling.
