I rode with the Riding for the Disabled Association from the age of 18 months old until adulthood and it is fair to say that it changed my life.
My teenager years saw me began to compete in Dressage competitively at national level through the charities national championships which are held at Hartpury College and University in Gloucestershire each year.
This led me to winning a number of national titles in the discipline with the charity which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of coaches and volunteers.
The summer of 2012 saw the London Paralympic games hit our shores and this led to me being nominated to act as Herefordshire’s Paralympic flame ambassador, arriving into Hereford with our flame on horseback with the help of my coach and the then Herefordshire RDA.
Nearly 10 years on I have been reflecting on my time with the charity and how it changed my life with the most notable moment being, experiencing the feeling of competitiveness though the charities yearly competitions.
It is important to say that none of this would’ve been possible without the support of the charities volunteers who make the sessions possible for thousands of disabled people across the United Kingdom especially here in the Midlands where the charities headquarters is based.
Unfortunately, RDA need to volunteers to keep its vital work going in order to keep changing the lives of those with disabilities.
Do you have a spare hour or two on a weekly or monthly basis, then why volunteer at your local RDA centre, find out more: https://rda.org.uk/volunteer/

It is only right that I take this opportunity to thank the incredible coaches and volunteers who supported me in my time as a rider at Herefordshire RDA and then Ride 2 Achieve, your support didn’t go unnoticed and was very much appreciated.
Finally, as I always do, I would like to end by thanking each and everyone of you, my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts.
It doesn’t go unnoticed very much appreciated.
