In two of the last 5 years I have attended the World Snooker Championships at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
The sport is one that I love to watch both live from a venue and at home on the television.
Being gifted a scarf with the famous snooker phrase “ where’s the cue ball going “ reminded me why I fell in love with the sport.
I always knew who was saying the famous line without knowing the commentators name and then I learned that it was the one and only John Virgo.
On learning of his passing earlier this year to say that I was devastated is an understatement because it dawned on me that I would never hear the saying again during live snooker matches. 
During this years World Snooker Championships I will be watching the action and of course listening to the expert commentary whilst remembering the legendary commentator remarking, “ where’s the cue ball going!!!” , if the white ball starts rolling towards one of the tables pockets.
I will miss hearing the voice of Virgo thoughout the next 17 days and in the years to come whilst tuning into a sport that I love.
Thank you for what you did for the world of Snooker over the years John, you will be sorely missed by me when I watch the beautiful game.
