I was fortunate enough to meet Gary Naysmith the outgoing manager of Scottish League one side Stenhousemuir on August the 9th last year (2025) on what was my 29th birthday.
Having travelled hundreds of miles from elsewhere in the United Kingdom for the clubs Scottish League 1 clash with Cove Rangers which was my first visit to Ochiview Park, it is fair to say that I was stuck for words when I found out that I was going to meet Gary (those who know me will tell you that it is difficult to shut me up).
Gary is one of the most genuine people I have ever been given the opportunity to meet and I will forever grateful to him for taking the time out of his busy match-day schedule to meet me.
When it was announced on Wednesday (6th of May, 2026) that Gary would depart Ochilview at the conclusion of the Scottish League 1 playoff’s I took the decision to write and personally thank him for everything that he has done for the club in his 3 years as manager.
It is fair to say that Ayr United’s gain is Stenny’s loss however. we as the supporters of this magnificent club can remember the good times that Gary has given us, especially winning the Scottish League 2 title in the 2023/24 season.
All that is left for me to say is this, thank you from the bottom of my heart Gary for making supporting Stenhousemuir football club such an enjoyable experience in recent seasons, it has not gone unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated, you will be missed.
