Trying to purchase wheelchair bays for European and Barclay’s Premier League matches at Villa Park can be incredibly difficult and now to top it all off match by match ticket prices for the bays are going to be through the roof for the 2026/27 campaign.
In the last few hours Aston Villa have announced there ticket prices for the forthcoming season which starts on August the 15th 2026. The bays for category 3 matches are priced at £61.00 with the category 4 match bays priced at £49.50.
During the 2025/26 season I only managed to attend matches within our UEFA Europa League campaign which cost me a total of £165.00 with the bays costing £55.00 a match for the ones with Bologna, FC Salzburg and Losc Lille.
If I wanted to attend a UEFA Champions League fixture during our next appearance in europe’s top football competition I would have to pay £89.50 for a bay per match.
However if you add in train fare at £39.19 and the cost of a night’s stay in a hotel you would be looking at a £200 night out which is something I simply cannot afford and would not be able to anytime soon.
Looking at the costings for a day out to a category 3 fixture I would have a bill of £100 with category 4 match racking up a bill of £88.69 and that is without adding in the purchase of food and drink.
I accept that the club’s fan advisory board have been consulted on the new pricing structure, however I don’t feel that the views of all supporters have been captured effectively during this process and my message to the FAB and club is a clear one and is this:
” I have been left feeling a sense of anger as a direct result of the club’s announcement today in relation to the ticket pricing structure for the 2026/27 season, as a wheelchair user who is a member I simply cannot afford to pay the prices you are planning to charge for tickets in the Barclay’s Premier League and the UEFA Champions League”.
” Yet again just like I was during the 2024/25 season I have been priced out of attending matches at Villa Park, which makes me incredibly sad as I love visiting B6 to support the boys in claret and blue”.
” Today I am urging you, the fan advisory board and the club to reconsider the pricing structure which relates to the wheelchair bays, many of the clubs disabled supporters are on benefits like Personal Independence Payment” and this makes it hard for supporters like me to afford match-day tickets”.
