Next season I won’t be attending matches at Villa Park because of the changes to stadium configuration as a result of the redevelopment.
According to the stadium plan realised by the club today (Wednesday June 3rd,2026) there will be limited wheelchair bays within the stadium for the 2026/27 season.
As a member I don’t attend matches on a regular basis, however with this news it will now be virtually impossible to get tickets going forward.
I have now reluctantly taken the decision to cancel my adult membership with the club as I don’t see the point of paying £50.00 for something I won’t be using.
I will miss sitting in row 13 of the Trinity Road stand with my fellow wheelchair using Aston Villa supporters which has always been a very enjoyable experience.
Those reading this will know that I have working with the team at West Midlands Railway (WMR) for the last few years on a scheme to improve the accessibility of some of the stations they manage for those with disabilities or mobility issue.
The scheme was piloted at Witton and Aston railway stations from January and May 2024 and has proven to be a massive success in giving disabled football supporters and local residents freedom when travelling to matches or events at Villa Park by rail or just from the station itself.
Unfortunately next season I won’t be taking advantage of the spaces at Witton station which come in the form of a blue and white box that features a white wheelchair logo and the words for mobility assistance, please wait here.
Signage mirroring the same messaging can also be found on the platforms at the station and is either positioned directly above where the spaces are located on the platforms or at the top of the ramp which brings passengers onto the platforms.
Having supported Birmingham’s claret and blue club since 2010 I am deeply disappointed that this is happening next season as there nothing more exciting than being in B6 to cheer on the boys in claret and blue.
Not sure if I will be renewing my membership for either the 2026/27 or 2027/28 seasons, right now.

It is only right that I once again take the opportunity to thank the incredible Villa supporters who travel by rail to matches on a regular basis for your support in ensuring that the disabled supporters can travel with ease from the station after matches at Villa Park, it does not go unnoticed and is as always very much appreciated.
