In the last few hours or so I have arrived in Birmingham by rail for Dermot Kennedy’s concert.
When leaving the train with the help of a ramp I had another scary experience as the ramp moved once I had wheeled onto it.
Something called the bridging plate should have been also used to ensure that the ramp was safe and it wasn’t on this occasion.
Unfortunately this is not the first time that I’ve experienced this type of situation when boarding or disembarking trains at the station.
It was only because of the weight of my wheelchair that the ramp didn’t fall off the train in my opinion.
I am shocked that this is still happening at the station not even a year on since I had a similar experience.
My message to network rail is this, please ensure that you have secured the ramp to the train before allowing me to use it.
I was put at risk this afternoon whilst leaving the train and this shouldn’t have been allowed to happen.
Please do better next time as this is getting ridiculous now.
