A railway station in Hertfordshire now has new accessibility tools on two of it’s four platforms, the blue and white boxes that feature a white wheelchair logo along with the words ” for mobility assistance, please wait here”, can now be found on platform’s 3 and 4 at the station.
Signage mirroring the same message can be found positioned either near to where the spaces are located or directly behind them on the platforms.
Those reading this will definitely know by now that I have been working with the team at London Northwestern Railway for near 3 years to ensure that those with disabilities or mobility issues can travel with ease around the railway stations they manage.
There is a simple reason why the tools could only be installed on two of the four platform’s and that is because they canter for the slower trains which do stop at the station
My message to passengers using the station is a clear but simple one and is this, please be mindful of where you stand on platform’s three and four as those requiring some assistance to board trains will need access to the space at all times whilst at the station.
Do you travel by rail on a regular basis and require some assistance to board or disembark trains, your assisted travel can be booked up to 2 hours before in any of the following ways:
By Phone: 0800 024 8998 or by using Next Generation Text – 18001 0800 024 8998.
Online: https://booking.passengerassistance.com.
By using the Passenger Assistance App: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/passenger-assistance/id1542190496.
However you do have a right to just turn up at a railway station and travel without booking any assistance prior to departure.
