It was incredible to attend the opening match of the T20 women’s Cricket World Cup at Edgebaston in early June.

June the 11th 2026 saw me visit Edgbaston in Birmingham for the opening match of the T20 women’s Cricket World Cup between England and Sri Lanka.

Over the years I have attended many England women’s cricket matches in Birmingham and they’ve always been incredible to witness.

However, attending the opening match of a world class cricket tournament in my own back yard was a dream come true.

Wicked the musical opened the event and has always been something that I’ve wanted to see, but this has been a challenge as a result of it only being staged in London.

Going into this afternoon’s (Sunday, July 5th 2026) final between the hosts and Australia both sides are unbeaten with England seeing off the likes of Sri Lanka, Scotland, Ireland, the West Indies and New Zealand in the group stage.

South Africa were the opposition in the semifinals which England quickly demolished to set up a classic final with the Aussies at Lords.

Australia defeated the likes of the Netherlands, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa on route to the semifinals.

The West Indies were their semi-final opposition with the girls in green and gold running out as winners by 8 wickets.

To say that I’m excited for the final of this world class tournament is an understatement and one that will be interesting to witness.

I for one am unable to predict who will come out on top of the world in the next few hours however those reading this could probably predict who I hope will walk away with the trophy at the end of the second innings.

It is only right that I take this opportunity to thank the incredible staff, CWC volunteers and the Stewards at Edgbaston for their incredible support during my visit to the ground recently for the opening match of the tournament.

As always, it does not go unnoticed and is course very much appreciated, I am really looking forward to returning to the stadium in the next couple of weeks for another international cricket match, which I of course hope will be as exciting as the last one.

Finally thank you to each and everyone of you, my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts as always it does not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated.
