On arrival at edgbaston in Birmingham for the one day international between England and India I was forced to drive down the shuttle buses steep ramp in middle of the road.

As the bus approached the stadium with supporters on board including myself the roads had been closed due to the event.

The driver of the vehicle asked those managing the closure if it could be opened so that the supporters could be dropped off next to the stadium.

Those managing said closure refused to do as the driver asked despite several minutes of argument, in the end with passengers becoming increasingly frustrated the driver was forced to let us off in the middle of the road.

Due to the bus not being next to a curb the ramp had to be dropped in to the middle of the road, making it steep to drive down.

Once I started driving down it I realised that my foot was going to make contact with the road because of the angle my chair was at whilst on the ramp.

This was a scary experience and one that I don’t want to repeat when visiting edgbaston for cricket matches in the future.

My message to national Express who operator the shuttle bus service to the stadium is this, please make sure that your drivers are clear about the process around arriving at the stadium.

I was not impressed that I had to be put in this unsafe position especially on a ramp which was very steep.

Please do better otherwise I will not be using the service when visiting the stadium in the future.
