All I want for my 30th year is more railway stations to get waiting spaces and signage on the platforms.

Tomorrow my 30th year on planet earth begins and that got me thinking about the fact that all I want for the next 12 months is for there to be more waiting spaces and signage installed on the platforms at some more railway stations managed by West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway.

Those of you reading this right now either here or on social media will know by now that there are over 30 railway stations managed by the operator across the network which already have waiting spaces along with accompanying signage on the platforms.

This idea all stemmed from a meeting that I had with the operator at Witton railway station near Villa Park in Birmingham about the experiences that I and other wheelchair users had at the station after attending matches or events at the nearby stadium.

Hopefully the latest station on the network to see the installation will Tamworth in Staffordshire, however this station will only get a space on one of the two platforms due to the complexities of the existing infrastructure at the station.

There a number of railway stations in Herefordshire and Worcestershire which could be set to see the accessibility tools installed on the platforms and I see this as an exciting moment on top of what has already been achieved in the last few years.

My message to officials at the Department for Transport who are responsible for funding the work of the now publicly funded operator is this, please consider funding this scheme further so that more of the disabled community can benefit from these tools across the network managed by the operator.

The scheme has already had a massive impact on passengers across the network, especially at stations near to the likes of Villa Park in Birmingham and the CBS Arena in Coventry which host football matches and other events on a regular basis.

Remember, you promised to ” Put passengers first” when you arrived into office, but this is something that I have not seen very much of in the last 2 years or so which is very disappointing and has to change now and not in the next 5 or 10 years when it suits.

Our community can’t just step on and off trains when we feel like it and this is not going to change anytime soon.

It is only right that I take the opportunity to once again thank the team from the operator for there hard work and dedication towards the scheme and making sure that those with mobility issues and other disabilities are able to travel by with ease both now and for many years to come.

Your support in recent times has not gone unnoticed and is as always very much appreciated and always will be.

Finally, thank you to each and everyone of you my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts, it does not go unnoticed and is of course as always very much appreciated.
