Personal independence Payment reassessments should be removed for those living with disabilities or long term health conditions which do not change.

As someone living with disabilities and long term health conditions which do not change I believe that personal independence payment reassessments should be scrapped by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), following there review of the benefit.

In the last year of so I have spoken out on so many occasions about why I rely on the benefit and have done so since it was known as Disability Living Allowance.

Personal independence payment has allowed to live as independently as I currently do and has not stopped me from working for organisations over the years like my local authority, the national health service and a local hospice.

Being put through the reassessment process for the benefit every seven or so years is not doing my mental health any good especially for those of us like myself, whose disabilities or long term health conditions are not going to change.

Enough is enough the system needs to be changed so that claimants are only assessed for the benefit once within their lifetime and not every few years or so.

I for one live in fear of the PIP reassessment process which should not of course be the case, my message to Sir Stephen Timms who is the Minister conducting the review into the benefit is a clear but simple and is this,

” Now is the time for the government to scrap the PIP reassessment process for those within our society that have disabilities or long term health conditions which do not change and remain the same for life”.

” Having Cerebral Palsy and Hydrocephalus along with being born at 25 weeks gestation means that I will only be able to live this life until the day that I die, so my question to you is this ” why do I have to be continually reassessed on a regular basis to see if I qualify for the much needed payments that I have always relied on”.

You as the government Minister leading the review has the power to make changes to the benefits system for many years to come which will of course affect the generations of people to come claiming the benefit as a result of having a disability or a long term health condition”.

” The time has come for you to make a real impact on current system and this is something I am very excited for as the changes are revealed in the months and years”

It is only right that I take the opportunity to thank the government for conducting a comprehensive review into the benefit so that those within society who really need it are able to receive the payments on a regular basis.

Your work in recent months and years to achieve this outcome has not gone unnoticed and is course very much appreciated and always will be.

Finally, thank you to each and everyone of you my regular loyal readers and social media followers who continually take the time out of your busy schedules to read my latest posts, it doesn’t go unnoticed and is of course very much appreciated.
